It’s the pandemic , stupid!!

One of the things nobody can avoid today, is taking about the pandemic and the uncertain times we are all living.

The world has been hit with one of the scariest issues we can all think, a micro little virus, invisible and unknown that can affect everyone in different ways and eventually cause death.

I know we are all tired, I am. Every topic we can talk about, learn or read has a reference to the COVID 19, especially if you are a student and teachers try to make it part of your assignments or lecture, I know I do.

But let’s be clear, the pandemic has occurred, we are living in it and we have to learn how to live with it. It seems it could stay for a while, or even stay as a new type of flu always around us.

And things have changed, not only on our basic domestic life, but in business and management, changes and adaptations to the previous standards, strategies or processes are now the norm, and we don’t know yet, if any, will be useful on the long run, we are trying to adapt and survive.

We have been studying unexpected unknown crisis for the last 30 years in management, and they are all complicated and difficult to manage when they hit, we have created plans and processes to prevent them or at least be ready for them, but there is always one thing that results of all those crises, opportunity.

So, think about it, there is no better time to be a student and or an entrepreneur. Change is the only constant in life and learning how to adapt and prevail in crisis is the only real lesson we need to experience ourselves directly so we can learn and master it.

We are not living in the NEW NORMAL, we are in the NEXT NORMAL, we have all been affected and we are all in the same starting point.

People have turn to Technology and innovation as a solution to some restrictions during the pandemic, we are using our phones more, new apps and fintech banking more, the world has turn digital and remote faster than we predicted and the actual workforce and management teams have to adapt very fast.

It’s time to putt all we have, the smartest, the resilience, the patience ones are in luck, the hill has flattened and we can all have the same opportunity, let’s find the positive in this crisis and don’t miss out on the new chapter that is been written in our world.

Next article I will explain my thoughts on the NEXT NORMAL and changes in business, supply chains & logistics, and how crisis management can easily become the next most important department in any corporation.

Gracias, all.
